Ferberite
Description
FerberiteAn impressive and attractive twinned Ferberite from Tasna. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This splendid piece is a sharp, highly lustrous, jet black twinned crystal of Ferberite (twinned along the a{100} face). For a final aesthetic touch, one can see a sparkling spherical aggregate of Marcasite on the
sharpness and translucency/gemminess sitting on Pyrite and Limonite matrix
the small amount of damage is forgivable
The quality is excellent for the species
Specimen # BOL711B24
Specimen # BOL711B123
and I have only seen a scattered few of them on the market since that time
There are three aspects to this specimen that make it stand out from so many others on the market
AND the fact that the crystals are on matrix
This species belongs to the only group of minerals that forms in naturally "round" or "cylindrical" shaped crystals
arborescent group of crudely crystallized Copper is a great display specimen from this historic locality
the piece is in great shape
there are a few partial blades of Brookite on the piece which are not fully terminated
