Ruby and ZoisiteThis Ruby Zoisite is a very nice "Heart" cabochon as it shows the hexagonal form of the deep pink red Ruby crystals with surrounding green Zoisite. This is very attractive and well known material, but rarely does one find a piece like this with such attractive form. These Ruby Zoisite specimens were found in Tanzania in 1954 (sometimes referred to as "Anyolite" after the Massai word for green), and are very popular among collectors, either as

though it is a bit brittle

located several miles north of the Cashin Mine

but a combination of all three

This is an example of a non-pegmatite gem mineral of which many collectors probably do not have a good specimen in their collections

and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buying a glass-filled stone

and top-notch both from the standpoint of excellence and associations

when we refer to other color-changing minerals/varieties

and some of the finest Epidote specimens in the world have been coming out of Pakistan in recent years

but the rightmost Microcline along with the termination of the Smoky Quartz are both contacted
