I have had good luck just doing a single knot when waxed. If laces aren't waxed they will need to be double knotted. Waxing will affect the color of the laces, it typically darkens the colors and can leave a tacky waxy feeling and tend to make the laces stiffer. It will take away any

Waxing these laces with reflective tracers will eliminate the reflective properties

It darkens it too much and takes away from its  beautiful color and sheen

The ends can be waxed (standard is the last 12 inches of the laces)
